Art Melt

What is Art Melt anyway?
The Forum 35 Art Melt is the largest multi-media, juried art exhibit in the state of Louisiana. Now in its 9th year, the Art Melt strives to promote professional artists throughout the state of Louisiana while providing an opportunity for the public to experience the best of local fine art, music, performing arts, and culinary creation.This show is open to Louisiana resident artists only.

The Art Melt 2012 will take place in downtown Baton Rouge on Saturday, July 14th from 5-10pm. All artwork accepted to the competition will remain up and open to the public for 4 weeks following the event. The Art Melt Marketplace will take place along outside the gallery show on the night of the event.

Awards:
1st place: $2,000            2nd place: $1,000            3rd place: $500
Forum 35 Award: selected work will be featured on next year’s commemorative poster
Camelot Club Award: selected artist will be offered a 4-week exhibit at the Camelot Club
Ann Connelly Award: selected artist will be offered a 4-week exhibit inside at the Ann Connelly Fine Art Gallery
Country Roads Magazine Award: selected work will be featured in Country Road magazine along with the artist

How to apply to the art exhibit:
Go to www.callforentry.org.

  1. If you are a first time user of CaFE, click on “First time users register here” button in the upper right hand corner. If you are a returning user, please log in and jump to step #4.
  2. You will see a couple of links on the Registration page. To register for an account click the “click here” link at the bottom of the page. However, we recommend that you spend some time on the “image prep” page to familiarize yourself with the media requirements of submitting artwork. This page will explain how to upload your pictures and what size the pictures need to be. For further questions on registration or image prep, please email artmelt@forum35.org and we’ll lead you through it!
  3. Once logged in, click the “Apply to Calls” button on the menu bar at the top of your page.
  4. This will bring you to a list of all art shows taking applications through CaFE. Scroll down until you see “Art Melt 2012” and click “apply to this call”.
  5. Make sure you agree with our “Agreement” by clicking “yes, I agree” and then get cracking at that winning application!
  6. Be sure to read our description and guidelines very carefully. This should tell you everything you need to know. For further questions email us atartmelt@forum35.org and we’ll be happy to help!
  7. Checklist for your application
    1. Artist statement: Explain why you are an artist, what mediums and methods you prefer to use, and what your artwork means to you. (1,000 characters or less)
    2. 1-3 images of your piece(s) uploaded to the CaFE website.
    3. Title, price, medium, and description of each piece submitted.
    4. $35 application fee

You’ll hear from us in late June regarding your acceptance… be sure to have a valid email address that you are checking regularly!

  2. If you are a first time user of ZAPP, click on “First time users register here” button in the upper right hand corner. If you are a returning user, please log in and jump to step #4.
